It is a striking thing for an attraction to publish, and it is not a complaint about rogue operators. It is a warning about an assumption. A tour named after the castle, sold as a Downton Abbey day, priced at several hundred dollars, does not necessarily carry the ticket that gets you through the door — and the listings do not always make that obvious at the point you book.

Others mention the opposite experience: arriving with the ticket already handled and walking straight through. Nobody writes a review saying "the admission was included as promised", which is why the pattern is easy to miss when you are skimming five-star ratings.
