Two shapes exist here. A guided private day, where the driver is also your guide and the itinerary takes in villages as well as the castle. And a transfer, which is exactly what it says: a car out, a wait, and a car back, for people who want the driving solved and nothing else.
This is the part that changes the maths. A fare quoted in four figures is for the vehicle. Split between four or six, it lands near what a seat on a shared minibus costs each — and you are not sharing.
No early walk across London to a meeting point, no waiting on a pavement at seven in the morning, and no rush back to a coach at a fixed time.
Because the castle sells timed slots, a private car can be booked to match the slot you hold rather than the other way round. On a shared departure the coach's time is the time.

The honest summary: below four people a shared day is almost always cheaper and simpler. At four it is close. At six the private car usually wins on price as well as comfort.

Not included, and this is the part to read twice: castle admission, on all but one. Only the black cab day with a lunch stop carries entry to the house and grounds in the fare. On the others you buy a timed ticket from the castle yourself, at between £25 and £145 depending on the kind of opening, and then tell the driver which slot you hold.
Also excluded across the board: gratuities, and lunch on every one of them. The transfers add their own conditions — waiting charges beyond the included time, and a surcharge on Christmas and New Year transfers paid in cash to the driver.
Plainly, because it saves you money.
